Rule 42
Classification of Educational Institutions

(1) Educational institutions providing medical education shall be classified into three categories as "A", "B" and "C" on the following basis:- (a) Number of seats and mode of study, (b) Services provided to the public, (c) Physical infrastructure (land and buildings and furniture), (d) connected equipment and its adequacy, (e) number and qualification of faculty, (f) free service, (g) condition of self-operated hostels and provision of food, (h) condition of utilization of hospital beds, ( (j) Work done by the educational institution in the field of research, (h) The state of fulfilling social obligations.
(2) The Commission shall issue a rating guide with indices and ratings for rating the facilities mentioned in sub-rule (1).
(3) The Commission shall assess the educational institutions by conducting on-site inspection and monitoring by a team consisting of experts.
(4) The weightage of the evaluation will be one hundred full marks and those who get ninety percent or more marks from the evaluation will be graded “A”, those who get eighty to ninety marks will be graded “B” and those who get seventy to eighty marks will be graded “C”.
(5) Every educational institution shall conduct a self-evaluation of its institution and submit such details to the Commission.
(6) The Information Commission, which has classified educational institutions according to sub-rule (1), shall make public and issue a certificate of classification to the relevant educational institutions.
